Immediate Dentures – Leave With Your New Smile
If you have loose, wobbly or failing teeth and have been told they need to come out, one of the biggest worries can be:
“Am I going to have to go without teeth?”
For most people, the thought of spending months without teeth is understandably pretty daunting.
The good news is, you don’t necessarily have to.
With immediate dentures, we can plan and make your dentures before your teeth are extracted. Your dentist removes the teeth and your new dentures are placed straight in afterwards.
Your teeth come out. Your dentures go in. You don’t have to spend months without a smile.
What Are Immediate Dentures?
Immediate dentures are made before your remaining teeth are extracted.
We work with you and your dentist to plan your new dentures so they’re ready for the day of your extractions. Once your dentist has removed the teeth, the dentures can be fitted immediately.
That means you can walk out with teeth in place rather than waiting for your gums to completely heal before your dentures are made.
For many of our patients, that’s a huge relief.

Do I Have to Wait for My Gums to Heal Before Getting Dentures?
Traditionally, people would have their teeth removed, allow their gums to heal for around three to four months, and then have their dentures made.
That option is still available and may be appropriate in some circumstances.
The downside is obvious: you may be without teeth during the healing period.
For many people, that’s simply not something they want to do. Work, family, socialising, eating and just feeling comfortable smiling can make spending months without teeth difficult.
Immediate dentures provide another option.
What's the Catch With Immediate Dentures?
There is one important thing we want you to understand from the beginning.
After teeth are extracted, your gums and the underlying tissues naturally change shape as they heal. Because your immediate dentures were made before those changes occurred, the fit will change as your mouth heals.
That’s normal.
Your dentures will generally need to be relined to improve the fit as your gums settle.
A reline is a straightforward and cost-effective part of the process, and we’ll explain what to expect before you decide to go ahead.
For many patients, having their dentures adjusted or relined is well worth it compared with spending three or four months without teeth.
